Close to the Church we have several parks and green open spaces including the Brent River Walk. Within about a 10 minute walk from the Church we have Ealing Hospital with its major Accident and Emergency centre.

Church History

Hanwell Methodist Church was built in 1904. During 2004, in order to celebrate its centenary, a series of monthly activities took place which were aimed at involving not only its own Church members, but also associated Circuit and District members, the local community, past members and ministers and anyone who had links with the Church over the past 100 years.

For more about the history of our Church please visit our History page.

Our Mission

Hanwell Methodist Church is a Christian community of people, worshipping God and believing in the power of the Gospel. We are committed to living out and sharing the teaching of Jesus Christ and witnessing to His presence in the local neighbourhood and beyond.

Our Family

The Church Family at Hanwell seeks:

through worship and prayer to grow in love, faith and understanding,

through friendship to care for one another and to serve the wider community,

through commitment to and knowledge of our faith, to inspire others.

The Church Family at Hanwell aims:

to share the joy of the Christian Gospel,

to deepen our level of spirituality, individually and as a community,

to provide an attractive and welcoming atmosphere for worship,

to share the responsibility of worship,

to create the opportunities for meeting together in fellowship,

to promote Christian education,

to seek ways to serve others.

Welcome to Coffee

Usually we serve coffee, tea and biscuits after our morning service. Do please join us in the Main Hall or Centenary Room after our Sunday morning worship.

From the Past

As part of the history of Hanwell is the fact that Brunel’s first major work, the Wharncliffe Viaduct and his last major work, the Three Bridges, are both in Hanwell close to our Church. It is also well known that Charlie Chaplin was at school in what is now the Community Centre on the Cuckoo Estate in Hanwell.

It is said that Queen Victoria used to stop her train when travelling over the Wharncliffe Viaduct to admire the view of the Brent Valley. Today the Brent Valley Walk, the parks, the Church and the golf course are all worth a visit.
